The Tiangong Space Station, as a large-scale space laboratory, is an important platform for humans to conduct cutting-edge scientific research and expand the boundaries of exploration. The Hong Kong research team has also contributed key strengths in this regard.
In 2023, the Tianzhou-6 cargo spacecraft carried a globally innovative articular cartilage repair material - "dLhCG", developed by the Hong Kong team. "dLhCG" underwent testing both inside and outside the space station, with the team closely observing its behavior in microgravity and cosmic ray environments. This research demonstrated how space exploration can bring new directions to medical innovation.
Speaker: Professor Wang Dong'an (Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Inventor of dLhCG and Head of Space Research Project)
Language: Mandarin
